I traveled to Atlanta this week to attend my first worldwide Habitat conference. 2200+ attended from nearly every nook and cranny of the globe. We need all hands…with well more than 2.5 billion of our fellow beings under-housed (a very polite and insufficient term), the need is as enormous as the task is difficult.
The amazing part for this cynical NYer is how easily awe-struck I was at the amazing work being done all over this planet. Read some of those amazing stories here.
In the US, home construction by HFH affiliates has been trending down, mirroring the overall trend in basic housing production. The good news is that there are many innovations being developed by local Habitat operations, and they are being shared across the network.
We are doing our best to grow our production and impact, and have some giant shoulders to stand on as we contemplate how to go farther faster.
