Circles, squared
Decades ago, I was into radio…as in being a DJ and newscaster at our college AM and FM stations. The FM station, WFDU, was a pioneer in playing American music - blues, jazz, rockabilly, gospel, country - especially regional music. I learned to love it all, (well, maybe not so much country.) And this is when music became a foundational element of my life.
This was also when and where I discovered Steve Forbert. A bit before his breakout album Jackrabbit Slim and hit, Romeo’s Tune, became ubiquitous.
So I found it quite amazing, gratifying and somewhat disorienting to be sitting less than a gimme putt away from him and his band for a show at Daryl Hall’s club. It was a fulfilling evening. New memories made from old experiences.
Life is often circular. We’ve come full circle on this slice of life.
Rock while you can…🎶 🕺
