(Sorry for the typos; they have been fixed!)
Busy week and month ahead, so just a quick note this week.
Building progress continues on our new energy efficient starter home. What’s shown here is the wood-fiber insulation that’s being used inside and out, that’s both super sustainable and provides code compliant R values for our area.
It’s being capped with a wood-based engineered siding that’s cost-effective, durable and low maintenance.
These homes (which come in three sizes and are net-zero ready) were designed specifically to be user-friendly for first time home owners who have little experience with with home maintenance nor the financial capacity for repairing expensive systems.
They will also be volunteer-friendly, in keeping Habitat’s community building model.
We are rolling out this program to our communities, seeking to build more homes more often.
More to come…
I'd never heard of wood-fiber insulation before. It sounds (and looks) so much better than the pink fluff.
